Project: Xip Safe Security App
Challenge: Explain the need by bringing attention to dangers such as sexual assault without overtly stating it.
Target: Female college students, parents, college administrators.
Concept: Connect childhood fears like monsters with adult fears such as assault. I used monsters as an analogy to real preditors. The idea was to be clear without being graphic or alarmist.
Explainer Video Transcript
When I was little, I lived with the constant threat of monsters under my bed. I never saw them, but I know they were there.
Now I’m in college, and there’re no more monsters under the bed, just a room- mate…
…but on the campus, or around town you never know what’s out there.
You hear horror stories, but that can never happen to you, right?
My school just got XipSafe. It’s a smartphone app that connects directly to our school’s campus security.
If there is any danger or something suspicious, I just push a button and Xipsafe calls the campus security office.
They have a monitor connected to the XipSafe system so they can see right where I am.

On my phone, a light comes on, and the phone gives off a warning sound and shoots a video so I can record what I’m seeing.
Then security calls my phone and asks for my password to confirm if there is any danger.
If I don’t give them that password, they will be there fast.
I come home late from the library or parties sometimes and I feel so much safer now that I have XipSafe. I think every school should have Xipsafe.
Because you never know what’s out there.
Contact your college today, and tell them to get XipSafe.
